About Syncora
Syncora automates the work — and keeps a person accountable for it. Every automated decision that touches an employee record is explained in plain language, checked for bias, reviewed by a human where it matters, and logged where an auditor can find it. We built the platform that workforce vendors would have built if regulators, not press releases, had set the timeline.
The story
The post-BIPA era is not theoretical. Patel v. Facebook settled at $650 million. The EEOC's iTutorGroup settlement closed at $365,000 for AI-driven hiring discrimination. Illinois biometric class actions — uncapped, statutory, per-violation — have produced unbounded exposure for any employer that captured a fingerprint without a written consent record. The legal posture for workforce AI is no longer "innovate first, document later." It's the inverse.
Most workforce platforms grafted AI on top of pre-AI architecture: a forecasting model behind a scheduler built in 2009, a chatbot in front of a payroll engine built in 2003. The AI runs; the governance does not. Syncora was built differently. Every AI decision passes through an explainability gate, a continuous bias audit, a human-in-the-loop checkpoint, and an immutable audit trail before it touches an employee record. The safeguards aren't a dashboard bolted onto the side. They're how the platform works.
The paradigm shift
How AI decisions are made
Traditional WFM
Opaque — model output appears in a UI; the reasoning is buried in vendor code.
Syncora
Explainable — every decision logs inputs, model version, confidence, and a plain-language rationale.
How bias is detected
Traditional WFM
Manual audits, often annually, often by the vendor that built the model.
Syncora
Continuous four-fifths-rule monitoring across protected classes, blocking on failure.
How employees see what AI did
Traditional WFM
No visibility. The schedule arrives, the score appears, the door closes — without explanation.
Syncora
Employees see what was decided, why, and how to override it — on their own screen, not via a records request.
AI Rules & Guardrails
Every AI decision in workforce ops produces a structured rationale — inputs, model version, confidence, and a plain-language summary an employee can read and challenge.
Disparate-impact monitoring runs continuously, not annually. Decisions that fail the four-fifths rule are blocked at the gate — not surfaced after the harm.
AI proposes; humans approve. Schedules, performance signals, adverse actions — every load-bearing decision passes through a manager before it reaches an employee record.
Employees see the AI that affects them. They can read the rationale, file pushback, and request an override — without filing a ticket or hiring a lawyer.
